Electromagnetic Contactor
An electromagnetic contactor is an electrically controlled switch used for switching high-power electrical circuits. It operates via an electromagnet that actuates the contacts when energized.
- Operation: Coil energizes → Magnetic field pulls armature → Contacts close/open
- Main Components: Electromagnetic coil, movable armature, fixed contacts, return spring
- Applications: Motor control, lighting systems, heating loads
- Voltage Ratings: Commonly 24V, 120V, 230V AC/DC coils
- Contact Types: NO (Normally Open), NC (Normally Closed)
Note: Always de-energize circuit before servicing. Use arc suppression where needed.
