Analog Switches, Multiplexers, Demultiplexers

Analog Switches: Solid-state switches that pass or block analog signals based on digital control. Common ICs: CD4066, DG942.

Multiplexers (MUX): Select one of many analog/digital inputs and route to a single output. Controlled by select lines. Example: CD4051 (8:1), 74HC157 (2:1).

Demultiplexers (DEMUX): Route a single input to one of many outputs. Inverse of MUX. Example: CD4052 (dual 4:1), 74HC138 (3-to-8 decoder used as DEMUX).

Key Parameters: On-resistance (R_ON), bandwidth, leakage current, supply voltage range.

Applications: Signal routing, data acquisition, sensor multiplexing, audio/video switching.
